Premier League 2018/19 Best Odds

It is one of the biggest and best footballing leagues in the world and the Premier League 2018/19 season starts on 10th August. With the transfer window having closed on the 9th August at 5pm, the teams are all set to go from the beginning, with new squads in place.

The transfer window has seen some interesting signings and we can see the teams who are spending the money to make an impact this season. Teams such as Liverpool and Man City have made some huge signings – with Chelsea set to spend big on the Atletico Bilbao Goalie Arrizabalaga. However, there are teams such as Tottenham who seem to have let the opportunity pass them by. How will these decisions affect the next season?

Pre-Season Friendlies

We’ve also had some interesting pre-season friendlies to watch while we’ve been waiting. Some teams like Chelsea and Leicester have only played a few matches; however, Liverpool leads the table with an impressive 9 friendlies. They are looking good as well, with 7 wins, 1 draw and only 1 loss, against Borussia Dortmund, which was the result of some defensive and goalkeeping errors. Also looking good going into the season are Arsenal, having won 4 out of 5 pre-season games. West Ham have also done well, winning 5 out of 7 of their games.

Teams that haven’t played so well in the run-up are Manchester United, who have won just 2 of their 6 games and Everton are looking shaky. They may have won the first friendly 22-0, but the following six games all resulted in one draw and five losses on the bounce.

Man City is an interesting team to watch. Although their pre-season games haven’t been fantastic, they convincingly beat Chelsea in the Community Shield Cup. They dominated in possession and controlled the game from beginning to the end, making Chelsea look like a below par side.

The Odds Are Out

The fixtures and odds are out now, and as the games kick off, we will be able to see whose new players are making a big difference to the matches. Shaqiri, despite being one of the ‘cheaper’ transfers, is looking good for Liverpool, having scored a beautiful bicycle kick and setting up another stunning goal against Turino, and it will be interesting to see if Mahrez is worth his huge transfer fee.

The season starts off with Man Utd taking on Leicester, in what should be a relatively straight forward game for the Red Devils. The odds on a Man U victory are pretty decent, so that’s where most people’s money will be at – and we’ll be looking to see if Fred makes an impact on the game.

Other interesting games kicking off the season are Liverpool v West Ham. Liverpool are huge favourites to win this game, and judging by recent form this is a fair judgement. However, West Ham have a new manager and some decent signings, so if you bet on West Ham to win, you’d be quids in.

Another game to look out for is Arsenal v Man City who will face off at the Emirates at 16.00 on Sunday. The Gunners are going to want come out all guns blazing with the new manager back team and squad – but Man City won’t be an easy team to beat and are still odds on favourites to win.

This season will be definitely be worth watching. Will the big clubs stay in the top four or will we see some surprise teams causing an upset? Everybody is starting with the highest hopes and expectations.
